Rev. Derek Washington has been a priest for 14 years. Through Barnabas International (www.barnabas.org) he serves a "hidden congregation" of missionaries around the world in various cultures and climates, providing them with pastoral care for both the normal nicks and dings of life we all experience, and for the unique stresses of cross-cultural living and ministry. He is married to Dorothy (McGinnis) Washington, who was a missionary in Honduras with the South American Missionary Society when he married her. They have 3 children - Jon - 26 and married, Addie - 19 in college, and Nathan - 17 in high school. They all served on the mission field in Asia as a family from 2000 - 2004. He composes music and sings, and much of his music can be heard at: www.derekwashington.com Fr. Derek has a passionate belief that God is still speaking to us today, and that there is more going on than what we see with our eyes, and that there is a battle raging for the hearts of men and women, as the Life Jesus promises and brings is opposed. And he believes that we all have crucial roles to play in the unfolding drama of the Story God is telling. |
